It works! Regarding the heatsinks: there seemed to be a gross excess of what I can only assume is thermal paste on the GPU when I removed the heatsink. I used the Hair-dryer for blowing Hot Air for five minuted gave rest to my Hair-dryer for two minutes and continued the process for about 25 minutes. In my case i had problem with my DVD drive and speaker. If it's still a ticking time bomb, there is no point in using the laptop, as it will completely die again. I have tried heating with a hair dryer for about ten minutes 2 times and both times it didn't resolve the issue. I contacted DELL support and I was asked to pay Rs11,000 for a one time fix which will cover all parts other than battery. Since this is a new purchase, call Dell about this issue and re ... Mine died nearly a year ago, and for some reason I decided to pull it out of my drawer and try to get it working again.
You should try booting to the Win 7 disk to do a repair or reinstallation as long as the hard drive is OK. Finally I used hair drayer 1400W for 7 min and now Dell does work. So I was almost on the way to make payment but jus browsed abt this problem and got it working!!!!. I updated the BIOS from A05 to A12, but that didn't work. After almost 20-25 minutes of heating up the GPU, I left it to cool down and re-set all the components one after the other.
