I did the clean, and every disc I had loaded up fine. After a bit of trial and error, I was able to get the plastic gear off of the laser head.

Clean the laser lens with rubbing alcohol, and lube the disc tray rails. Reassembled it enough to test - it was running as good as new if not better! This thing has been sitting here for so long because of the whole dre junk.
