Do you think that is the case here, or should I just leave this be and not worry about it? This problem was pretty prevalent when people on 10.3.9 updated iTunes to version 6.0 which is why your scenario has me a little confused. Okay, in summary (I think I digressed), it's probably cool to delete it but check if it works first. I would really like to access that internal Macintosh HD and retrieve my files. But when I tried repairing Permissions booting up from the OS Installation disc, the error happens. But if they weren't secure, would it still pass the Hardware Test? Do you Ubuntu?
