I am lost. After updating to Yosemite my LaCie 3TB external hard drive stopped showing up in Finder and Disk Utility couldn't fix it because it would not mount/unmount. Try then to erase, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format, with Fastest Security Optiion, I get "Disk Erase Failed with the error: Unable to write to the last block of the device".
