It can work really well too but if yours isn't working well then it's just as useless as a shit wifi connection. I have been trying my best to get it to fail (just normal streaming and transfers etc) and have not had one of the previous errors. Media played for about 10 mins and then DLNA 2104 and "PS3 has been disconnected from the media server". Check This Out So it has to be a firmware issue with the PS3, or possibly a software issue with the PC.
Going to try a friends router next, and then maybe a wireless gaming adapter connected to the PS3's ethernet port. Dlna Protocol Error 501 If I added a switch do I plug it into the router? Hopefully over the weekend, I'll have a try at the wireless streaming again, with the PS3 configured with manually entered DNS servers. I have Windows security essentials running so I turned that off (as well as turning of Windows firewall) and after about 5 mins the errors started occuring again.
At first I thought the problem was resolved when I increased the number of connections and extending the timelimit before dropping out but the problem is back to haunt me. http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/60-PS3-reporting-DLNA-2104-error You've now got a much more useful error message to search on: http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&q=The+Windows+Media+Player+Network+Sharing+Service+cannot+process+the+request+for+URI+0x80070002You might find an answer in there. It is proving a little more stable, but disconnections still occur, along with a 80710723 error and a 8003???29 error, also had 80028801 "media not supported". Only thing thats changed on the PC is updates from Windows Update. I assume that the AtcL001 issue is actually causing the Microsoft-Windows-DNS-Client issue that I listed first in my previous post (can anyone confirm my thoughts on this?) I will try the this page edit: whoops I see that you've tried PS3MS, but try it again anyway and look for errors in it's logs or event log, they might provide more clues.

Right, so the problem is definitely on the computer, not the PS3. Also what router you're using? If you are using Windows Firewall, the required Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP) ports are automatically opened when you turn on media sharing. Mine is still the same. The default value was 4096 but it's advisable not to use the limit.
